About is it best to live in Portland, OR and Work in Vancouver, WA

Is it best to live in Portland, OR and Work in Vancouver, WA?
I am thinking about moving to the Portland/Vancouver area and I have four options. I know that the worst would be to live in Vancouver and live in Portland, because of getting hit with sales and income tax. And the two options of living and working in Portland; and living and working in Vancouver, would be in the middle. Both of which have their own pros and cons. But I was thinking, wouldn't it be best to live in Portland and work in Vancouver? Would I avoid both the income tax (due to working in WA) and the sales tax of Oregon (due to being an OR resident)? Also, I would be going against traffic on either bridge. I am thinking about moving to the Portland/Vancouver area and I have four options. Answer 1 :
I live in Vancouver and work in Downtown Portland, and am being taxed by BOTH states. I hear that it's a little cheaper to live in Portland and work in Vancouver. Just do all your shopping in Portland. The commute can be a really ugly mess. But it depends greatly on what time you work. I usually do swing shift and traffic is a breeze. I live in downtown Vancouver and it takes me about 20 minutes to commute to work. Good choice, you'll love it here.
Answer 2 :
The other thing to think about is if you are going to rent or buy in either city. Property taxes in Portland are higher than they are in Washington. Depending on what kind of work you are looking for is also going to impact where you want to be working. Portland is a much larger city than Vancouver. so it may be easier to find work in Portland. Traffic between the two cities is pretty messy most days around your typically rush hours (6-9 am and 3-6 pm) so you may be better off living closer to your work to save on gas, or giving you the option to take public transportation or bike, both are very popular options in Portland. Best of luck!
Answer 3 :
I would not recommend commuting across the Columbia River. If you live in Oregon, I think you are supposed to pay the income tax, even it you earn it in a different state.
Answer 4 :
Traffic runs both ways in the Morning...either way you will be IN traffic..Beleive me I know.
Answer 5 :
Not really, I think you may have it backwards. Because Washington has no state income tax, it is better to live there. Then go across to Oregon to make most major purchases due to the lack of sales tax.
